"Whether the British Ambassador acted hastily or made a mistake — of course, this cannot be seen as anything positive or constructive, which is what is expected of an ambassador. Once again, he made a politically biased statement."

According to Volski, the British Ambassador directly interfered in the electoral process and was known for blunt and harsh remarks.

“I would think the British Ambassador made a mistake and acted hastily in making those comments — if we didn’t already have bad experiences in dealing with the British Ambassador, where he directly interfered in the electoral and overall political processes, made blunt, tough statements, and openly supported the opposition. This has become a common occurrence recently. In that regard, the British Ambassador stands out — but this also applies to the German Ambassador, the French Ambassador, and others.

Of course, we welcome grant funding when it helps the electoral system. But granting funds, for example, to ISFED should raise additional questions because ISFED was exactly the organization that deliberately falsified data, then refused to acknowledge errors, aiming to provoke revolutionary developments.

So, whether the British Ambassador acted hastily or not, whether he made a mistake — clearly, this was not counted as constructive or positive, as is expected of an ambassador. Rather, once again, he made a politically biased statement, knowing full well that this issue will be resolved within a few days, there is still a long time before the elections, and he will have the opportunity to present his project for organizing funding,” Volski stated.

For context: The British Embassy in Georgia announced that it has to cancel planned grant proposals aimed at supporting transparency and competitiveness in the upcoming municipal elections. According to the Embassy, after discussions with the Georgian government, they were informed that the governmental resolution on “grant approval procedures” has not yet been finalized, and therefore, there are currently no mechanisms or timelines in place for approving such grants.
