I confirm that there was no agreement and we learned about the establishment of the Chorchana checkpoint post facto - when we found out, I was obliged to inform the Prime Minister about the matter, - former Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri told journalists after being questioned about the Chorchana episode at the Prosecutor General's Office.

According to Gomelauri, in general, when it comes to such issues, he agrees with both the head of the security service and other leaders and the European Union Monitoring Mission, although Gomelauri clarifies that in this case his service was not informed.

"Was I informed about the establishment of the checkpoint, did we agree or not?... I confirm that there was no agreement and we learned about the establishment of the Chorchana checkpoint post facto. Of course, it is our territory, both from here and there, but unfortunately, we are faced with this fact. As a rule, it is agreed the EU Monitoring Mission, and then they agree all this in this common format. There were several cases where there was an agreement from the other side: do it, we have no problem. That's how it happened. So, of course, they had to inform the Prime Minister, the Security Service, then we inform the EU Monitoring Mission. That's how everything happened. In this case, we learned post facto.

We had no information and we learned post facto that they started building the road. As for whether the Prime Minister was aware of the matter or not, as far as I know, he was not. We reported it, as far as I remember.

When we found out, I was obliged to inform the Prime Minister about the matter. It was done anyway. Why we left it, I can't answer that today. An investigation is underway," Vakhtang Gomelauri said.
