A new European airline, Air Serbia, has entered the Georgian aviation market. This information was announced by the United Airports of Georgia.

According to their statement, the United Airports of Georgia, with the involvement of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, successfully concluded negotiations with Serbia’s flagship carrier. The airline will operate direct regular flights to and from Tbilisi three times a week using an Airbus 319.

“Air Serbia completed its first direct flight from Belgrade to Tbilisi International Airport earlier today. Among the passengers on the inaugural flight was Serbia’s Minister of Internal and Foreign Trade, Jagoda Lazarević, who was welcomed at the governmental terminal of Tbilisi International Airport by Georgia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Alexandre Khvtisiashvili, Director General of the United Airports of Georgia Levan Moseshvili, and Serbia’s Ambassador to Georgia and Armenia, Tatjana Panajotović Cvetković.

A reception was held at the governmental terminal of Tbilisi Airport to mark the arrival of the new European airline, attended by representatives from the aviation and tourism sectors as well as the airline.

According to Levan Moseshvili, Director General of the United Airports of Georgia, there have never been direct regular flights between Georgia and Serbia until now.

Air Serbia is the successor to Aeroput, the first Serbian national airline, established in 1927. In 2024, the total passenger flow between Georgia and Serbia reached 16,839 passengers, a 66% increase compared to 2023,” the statement noted.
