Eter Liparteliani is a world champion

Judoka Eter Liparteliani is a world champion. She defeated Japan’s Momo Tamaoki by ippon in the final of the World Championship taking place in Budapest.

Before the decisive match, Liparteliani defeated Ju Kim (South Korea), Daria Kurbonmamadova (Russia), Pihla Salonen (Finland), and Maýsa Pardayeva (Turkmenistan), and in the final, she overcame Momo Tamaoki (Japan). She won all her matches by ippon.

Eter Liparteliani is the first Georgian female judoka to become a world champion.

The Judo World Championship has been underway since June 13.
