Giorgi Gakharia re-summoned to parliamentary temporary investigative commission

The leader of the Gakharia for Georgia party, former Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, has been summoned to the parliamentary temporary investigative commission for the second time.

As the chairwoman of the temporary investigative commission, Tea Tsulukiani, explained, he has been summoned to the session regarding the Chorchana issue in order to answer additional questions.

“We will re-question Giorgi Gakharia on June 23, to whom a notification has already been sent. This notification procedure has already been partially completed, but it continues in order to strictly and completely comply with the rules stipulated by law. I hope that Giorgi Gakharia will appear for additional questioning so that we can continue talking about Chorchana, Tsaghvli and other villages, where he told us that not a single centimeter of the territory had been occupied due to his decision to place a checkpoint, and that the central government in Tbilisi had not lost control. We heard the explanation of the Tsaghvli resident, where he said that the country lost the entire forest, the occupying state occupied it, and Russia entered Georgian territory more than it had occupied before. These explanations and statements are radically contradictory, therefore it is our duty to ask him additional questions. Also, questions will be asked, and this was communicated to him in the notification letter, relating to the period from 2012 to 2025, when he was already in the opposition. This is the period from his resignation to the present, including his and his party's activities in the international arena and with international partners," said Tea Tsulukiani.
