According to the former head of the Administration of the Government of Georgia, Kakha Kakhishvili, the government administration was not officially informed about the construction of the Chorchana checkpoint.
The former head of the Administration of the Government of Georgia, Kakha Kakhishvili, spoke about the details of the interrogation at the Prosecutor's Office.
As Kakhishvili explained, he has not received information on this topic through official channels.
“As is known, I was summoned to the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia for interrogation regarding the construction of the Chorchana checkpoint. At that time, I was the head of the Government Administration. The investigation was interested in whether the Government Administration was informed about the expected threats or about the decision-making process. I answered it as it was - the Administration of the Government of Georgia was not officially informed about this issue. Moreover, this issue was not discussed at any working meeting that I participated in,” Kakhishvili told me.
When asked when the then Prime Minister, Mamuka Bakhtadze, learned about the above, Kakhishvili stated that no correspondence had been received from any agency.
He also drew attention to the fact that the Chorchana issue became public on August 29, and Bakhtadze made a statement about his resignation on September 2:
“No official correspondence regarding this issue was received by the Administration from any agency to inform the Prime Minister. I cannot confirm whether the Prime Minister was aware of it by telephone, but there was no information in an official format.
If you look at the archives, this issue became public on August 29, and on September 2, in fact, in 3 days, Mamuka Bakhtadze resigned. Bakhtadze made an official statement about his resignation. However, a week before the resignation, we, the highest officials, knew that the Prime Minister was going to resign, therefore, the Prime Minister was not very active. Moreover, since Bakhtadze believed that he should resign, on the 2nd of August Government meetings were not held in the second half of August. If it became known on the 29th and he left office on the 2nd, what reaction should he have had?!”,- said Kakhishvili.
As for himself, Kakhishvili states that he only learned about the Chorchana checkpoint through the media.
“I learned about it through the media, I did not receive information about it in any other format,”- said Kakhishvili.
