The Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the death of three individuals as a result of a car accident near Sarpi

The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has charged one individual in connection with the death of three people resulting from a car accident. The information was released by the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia.

According to the statement, the investigation established that on June 14, the accused, who was driving at excessive speed from Batumi toward Sarpi, failed to safely operate the vehicle and crashed into a parked truck. As a result of the injuries sustained in the accident, three passengers in the vehicle died.

"The detainee has been charged under Article 276, Part 8 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (violation of traffic safety rules resulting in the death of two or more people), which carries a penalty of up to 10 years of imprisonment.

At the request of the Prosecutor’s Office, Batumi City Court has already imposed pre-trial detention as a preventive measure,” the statement reads.
