Former Shida Kartli Governor Giorgi Khojevanishvili states that he had no information about the operational-tactical decisions of law enforcement agencies in the Chorchana case, as this was not within his competence.
Khojevanishvili made the relevant statement to the media after completing an interview with the Prosecutor General's Office regarding the Chorchana episode as part of the ongoing investigation.
According to him, the discussion during the interview mainly concerned issues surrounding Chorchana, borderization processes, and the situation near the occupation zone:
"The discussion mainly concerned issues surrounding Chorchana. This was the intensity of borderization. Of course, borderization and the processes accompanying the occupation are very severe in the region that was within my competence at that time. The discussion concerned the Shida Kartli region. Of course, this is an issue that was and is the number one priority and most painful issue for Shida Kartli and our country as a whole at that time and today.
Within the scope of my competence, I was not supposed to know and I did not have information regarding the operational-tactical decisions of the law enforcement agencies," - stated Khojevanishvili.
When asked whether the then Prime Minister knew about the location of the Chorchana checkpoint, he replied that this belongs to the sphere of personal communication, therefore he does not have information whether the then Prime Minister knew about the location of the Chorchana checkpoint:
"This concerns issues of personal communication, of course, it is not known to me who he communicated with regarding this issue," Khojevanishvili stated.
