The Ministry of Internal Affairs has detained civil activist Nino Datashvili. The case concerns a confrontation that took place at the Tbilisi City Court on June 9, during which, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Datashvili physically assaulted a bailiff. According to the ministry, the case is being investigated in accordance with the Criminal Code.

“As a result of the conducted operational measures and investigative actions, officers of the Vake-Saburtalo Main Division of the Tbilisi Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, based on a judge’s ruling, arrested N.D., born in 1982, on charges of assaulting a public servant while performing his official duties.

The crime is punishable by imprisonment for a term of 4 to 7 years.

The investigation established that on June 9 of this year, the defendant disobeyed a bailiff in the Tbilisi City Court and physically assaulted one of them.

As a result of the investigative actions conducted on the case, law enforcement officers arrested N.D. The investigation is ongoing under Part 3 of Article 353, Section 2 of the Criminal Code of Georgia,” reads the information.
