The court hearing for Romeo Mikautadze, former First Deputy Minister of Economy, who is charged with abuse of official authority and money laundering, will take place on Monday, June 23, at 12:00 p.m.
During the session, the court will deliberate on the imposition of a preventive measure against Mikautadze.
According to his lawyer, the former Deputy Minister of Economy does not admit guilt.
For context, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, Romeo Mikautadze systematically abused his official powers, resulting in the receipt of especially large amounts of income. Specifically, with the help of individuals involved in a criminal scheme with him, the defendant illegally and unjustifiably laundered income in the amount of 2,556,192 GEL.
Law enforcement officers arrested the former First Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development on June 20. He has been charged under Article 332, Part 2, and Article 194, Part 3, Subparagraph “g” of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for a sentence of up to 12 years in prison.
