The party For Georgia has released a statement regarding Giorgi Gakharia’s summons to the parliamentary investigative commission.
The statement notes that Giorgi Gakharia confirms his readiness to speak to the commission on the issue of the Chorchana outpost, remotely, before returning to Georgia. However, the commission has informed him that it refuses to conduct a remote questioning and “insistently demands” his physical presence at the session on Monday, June 23. The party considers this demand to be “without any objective justification,” especially if the investigative commission is “truly interested in hearing his testimony regarding the Chorchana matter.”
“We would like to inform the public about Giorgi Gakharia’s second summons to the so-called parliamentary investigative commission session on June 23, 2025, concerning the Chorchana issue.
As is known, Giorgi Gakharia has already appeared before the commission once — at the April 14, 2025 session, which lasted six hours.
The commission has been informed in writing twice that Giorgi Gakharia is once again ready to participate in the session. However, given that he is currently abroad on a previously scheduled visit, he has expressed his willingness to participate in the session remotely — in so-called ‘online’ format. This is both allowed by the commission’s regulations and was previously proposed by the commission itself during his first summons in April.
Despite this, we were officially informed by the commission on June 22 that it refuses to question Giorgi Gakharia remotely and insists on his physical appearance at the June 23 session. This has no objective explanation if the investigative commission is genuinely interested in hearing his testimony regarding the Chorchana matter.
Once again, Giorgi Gakharia confirms his readiness to speak to the commission remotely about the Chorchana outpost issue before his return to Georgia,” the statement reads.
