Margus Tsahkna: Estonia is very clear about the Georgian regime – we must increase sanctions, impose more personal sanctions, and begin the visa liberalization review process

Estonia is expressing itself very clearly regarding the Georgian regime – we must increase sanctions, and we must impose more personal sanctions at the EU level, Estonia’s Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna told journalists in Brussels ahead of the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting.

According to him, the European Union should begin a review process regarding Georgia’s visa liberalization.

“We must start the process regarding visa liberalization. This was also Estonia’s proposal. We proposed this issue because the current regime in Georgia does not follow the will of the Georgian people when it comes to joining the European Union.

The EU granted this opportunity to Georgia because of its path toward European integration, but now the regime has completely changed direction and is heading toward Russia. And we must act accordingly,” Tsahkna said.
