The leaders of "Lelo – Strong Georgia," Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze, will not attend the Tbilisi City Court, where verdicts in their cases are scheduled to be announced.
According to the party, Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze will await the verdicts at the party’s office.
The court hearing for Mamuka Khazaradze, charged with failing to comply with the demands of a parliamentary temporary investigative commission, is scheduled for 3:00 PM. At 5:00 PM, the Tbilisi City Court will hold a hearing for Badri Japaridze, also charged with failing to comply with the demands of the parliamentary temporary investigative commission.
For context, a total of nine opposition politicians were summoned to provide explanations before the Georgian Parliament’s temporary investigative commission. Eight of them refused to appear at the legislative body, with the sole exception being former Interior Minister Giorgi Gakharia, who, accordingly, has not been charged in this matter. As for the other politicians, they have been charged under Article 349 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to "failure to comply with the demands of a temporary investigative commission of the Georgian Parliament." This offense is punishable by a fine, imprisonment for up to one year, and/or a ban from holding public office or engaging in certain activities for up to three years.
