Giorgi Gakharia has expressed readiness to discuss the Chorchana issue remotely at the commission on July 2 as well, stated Berdia Sichinava, the Executive Secretary of the "For Georgia" party, during a press briefing.

Sichinava responded to today’s statement by the Temporary Investigative Commission, which has given Giorgi Gakharia until July 2 to appear in person and answer questions regarding the Chorchana checkpoint issue solely in person, not through remote participation.

"The 'Dream' regime is fabricating a dirty case against Giorgi Gakharia for peacefully protecting Georgian land in Chorchana, for peacefully halting creeping occupation, and for safeguarding against separatists’ claims to even larger territories—a case that carries a 15-year prison sentence. This constitutes a grave crime against Georgia’s national interests, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. The legal and historical accountability of all those involved in this will inevitably be addressed.

It is clear today that the separatist regime and 'Dream' are using the same narrative regarding Chorchana. As Bibilov states, Chorchana is a painful thorn for the separatist regime, and now, it seems, for 'Dream' as well. Apparently, they are receiving instructions from the same 'deep state' today.

Giorgi Gakharia has already appeared before the commission once, where he spoke about Chorchana. Subsequently, he repeatedly expressed readiness to participate remotely in the so-called commission’s sessions, a possibility provided for in the commission’s regulations. In fact, such an offer was made by the commission itself during his first summons.

For the first time in its operation, the so-called commission refused to hear Giorgi Gakharia, while allowing others this opportunity. It is becoming evident that a frightened and irrational 'Dream' is itself avoiding public discussion on Chorchana, as it would reveal who is betraying Georgian national interests and our country’s territorial integrity.

Today’s decision by the commission further confirms that they do not want to hear Giorgi Gakharia on the Chorchana issue. We declare our readiness to discuss Chorchana remotely on July 2 as well.

Giorgi Gakharia and our team are proud of the Chorchana case. This is not merely a political vendetta against Giorgi Gakharia; it is a grave crime against the state’s national interests. No matter how much time passes, we promise the public that an investigative commission will be established to investigate this investigative commission, and no one will be able to escape or hide from the Chorchana case—not the commission, false witnesses, or law enforcement," stated Berdia Sichinava.

The Parliamentary Temporary Investigative Commission has given Giorgi Gakharia, leader of the "For Georgia" party, until July 2 to appear before the parliamentary investigative commission. According to the commission’s chairperson, July 2 is the final deadline for Gakharia to attend the session.
