A court hearing is underway at Tbilisi City Court for journalist Nikusha Katsia, who was arrested on drug-related charges.

At today’s session, evidence will be examined — specifically, the prosecution's investigator and expert witnesses will be questioned.

At the beginning of the hearing, Nikusha Katsia called on attendees to maintain order.

“They’re threatening to clear the courtroom. This is Georgian Dream’s requiem. This might be the last trial the media is allowed to cover, because the regime plans to ban media filming. The fact is, the master’s lying puppets are afraid of the truth. They’re a little late — the whole world already knows the truth — but that’s okay. When you're held accountable through a fair trial, we’ll demand that the media be allowed back into the courtroom to film again,” Katsia said.

For context, Nikusha Katsia has been charged under Article 260, Part 6 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to the illegal purchase and possession of large quantities of narcotic substances.

The offense is punishable by 8 to 20 years or life imprisonment. Katsia was arrested on December 7.
