Tea Tsulukiani: The United National Movement came to power as a result of events that were mistakenly called a revolution – we are investigating this, and most likely, we will say that this was not a velvet revolution!

"The United National Movement came to power as a result of events that were mistakenly called a revolution – we are investigating this, and most likely, we will say that this was not a velvet revolution. It was a coup d'état, packaged in the form of a velvet revolution," – this statement was made by Tea Tsulukiani, head of the temporary parliamentary commission, during a plenary session of Parliament.

Tsulukiani also claimed that the elections held in the months following the "coup d'état" were rigged and that the United National Movement came to power as a result of fraudulent elections.

"The European Court of Human Rights has spoken on this. At the time, Zurab Chiaberashvili was the head of the Central Election Commission. This issue has come to light and will be included in the introduction of the commission's conclusion – stating clearly how certain forces came to power.

A harmful force came to power, and it did so through a coup and rigged elections. This will be shown clearly in the introduction, supported by documents," said Tea Tsulukiani.

The Parliament is currently reviewing a proposal to extend the mandate of the temporary investigative commission for one more month, until August 5.
