French Minister for European Affairs: Repression of the opposition in Georgia is unacceptable

The repression of the opposition in Georgia, through the detention and prosecution of Zurab Japaridze, Nika Melia, Nika Gvaramia, Mamuka Khazaradze, Badri Japaridze, and Giorgi Vashadze, is unacceptable, stated Benjamin Haddad, the French Minister for European Affairs, on the social platform X.

According to his statement, France condemns the “Georgian Dream” party’s rapid slide toward authoritarianism.

“France condemns the authoritarian drift of ‘Georgian Dream’ following the 2024 elections, which were neither free nor fair,” the minister wrote.
