Parliamentary Committee on Procedural Issues and Rules to discuss early termination of powers of members of Gakharia for Georgia party on June 30

Next week, on June 30, the Parliamentary Committee on Procedural Issues and Rules will discuss the issue of early termination of the powers of the members of the Gakharia for Georgia party and prepare a corresponding conclusion.

The mentioned issue was put on the agenda on the basis of their unjustified absence from sessions.

“According to the information available to date, their absence from sessions is due to unjustified reasons, however, the issue will be verified by the committee. The committee will examine all 12 individuals to see to whether they violated the parliamentary regulations. After examining the issue, a conclusion will be drawn. The conclusion will be prepared based on the results of the investigation,” said Davit Matikashvili, Chairman of the Procedural Issues Committee.

The Gakharia for Georgia party is represented in the 11th Parliament with 12 deputies. Giorgi Gakharia’s political union, like other opposition parties, declares the October 26 elections illegitimate and does not participate in parliamentary activities. In addition, unlike other parties, they have not filed a statement on the termination of their parliamentary powers.

In the event of the termination of the parliamentary powers of Gakharia for Georgia members due to unjustified absence from parliamentary sessions, the issue of recognizing the powers of the next 12 members on the electoral list will be on the agenda.

The Parliament will make a decision on all this in the format of a plenary session.
