Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom to Georgia Gareth Ward.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the parties discussed the dynamics of relations between the two countries.

“In this context, the Foreign Minister stressed that recent statements and steps taken by representatives of the executive and legislative authorities of the United Kingdom, including the imposition of sanctions on Georgian citizens, cast a shadow on the strategic partnership and friendship between Georgia and the United Kingdom and are often aimed at influencing Georgia’s internal political processes.

The conversation touched on Georgia’s legislative innovations on foreign financing. The Ambassador was explained that the process of developing the relevant rules for the new legislation is at the final stage and all interested parties will be provided with the necessary information immediately.

Speaking about the ongoing processes in Georgia, the Foreign Minister noted that there should be no politicization of legal processes and thus attempts to influence the justice process.

The conversation touched on the security challenges in the region and in this context, the proper functioning of state institutions was emphasized for ensuring the stability and security of the country," reads the information.
