Opposition politician Givi Targamadze, who is accused of failing to comply with the request of the Parliamentary Temporary Investigative Commission, will not attend the announcement of the verdict. The hearing will take place at 10:30 AM at Tbilisi City Court.

Judge Nino Galustashvili had postponed the previous hearing to allow the defendant, Targamadze, to deliver his final statement, but the politician has chosen not to exercise this right.

Givi Targamadze was summoned to appear before the Temporary Investigative Commission in Parliament to provide an explanation on April 3, but he failed to appear.

As a result, he was charged and the court set bail in the amount of 10,000 GEL as a preventive measure, which he paid within the legally prescribed timeframe.

For reference, Givi Targamadze has been charged under Article 349 of the Criminal Code, which refers to “failure to comply with the request of the Parliamentary Temporary Investigative Commission.” This offense is punishable by a fine or imprisonment for up to one year, and/or deprivation of the right to hold public office or engage in professional activity for up to three years.
