When has Georgia ever taken a step that contradicts Western ideals?! These harmful individuals are parroting the words of some fool like Honcharenko, who has always served Russian interests in Ukraine!
Honcharenko is one of the main members of the collective ‘United National Movement’! – This statement was made by the First Vice Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Gia Volski, in response to a question during the debates on Georgia held at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
In this context, Volski stated:
"There is an attempt to create the impression that Georgia is moving toward Russia."
"Over the past 13 years, what steps has Georgia taken that would help Russia gain an advantage?! Unlike the pre-2012 government, which is so fiercely defended and whose return to power is being pursued in the Council of Europe and other formats. This is the reality—and if they don’t want to face this reality, they try to create a sea of problems for us!"
"20% of Georgia’s territory is occupied, and we have one of the world’s strongest military powers pointing its weapons at us. We live in this tense situation every day. And yet it’s Honcharenko and his Georgian supporters shouting at us to engage in a confrontation that would lead to destruction in Georgia."
"What tribunal agreement did Honcharenko sign, or what has he achieved while Ukraine is collapsing and drowning in blood?! An entire generation of young people has been wiped out, and now they’re waging a war against Georgia over some ideals, while we are facing countless challenges!"
"Georgia knows its responsibilities and its policies—there is no pro-Russian policy! Georgia has signed over 600 resolutions in support of Ukraine. People like Honcharenko are ungrateful," – Volski declared.
On June 26, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) held a debate on the situation in Georgia. The main topic was political prisoners and politically motivated justice in the country. During the debate, Ukrainian representative Oleksiy Honcharenko stated that Georgia did not sign the agreement to establish a special tribunal aimed at prosecuting the Russian leadership. He added that this is especially alarming given that Georgia itself is a victim of Russian aggression.
