"With every detained activist and silenced voice, Georgia increasingly resembles Belarus," said European Parliament member Rihards Kols in response to the detention of Givi Targamadze. According to him, words alone will not stop the repressions.

"With every detained activist and silenced voice, Georgia increasingly resembles Belarus. The European Parliament has repeatedly called for strict sanctions against those facilitating this authoritarian shift. It is time for action – words alone will not stop the repressions," Kols wrote.
