If we say that we are working on delegitimization, boycott is a form of delegitimization of the government, while participation in the elections is a form of legitimation, - one of the leaders of the Coalition for Change, Gedevan Popkhadze, stated on PalitraNews.
According to Gedevan Popkhadze, the regime must be fought consistently and uncompromisingly, the boycott needs to have a campaign character, which gives results.
"If we choose boycott, we will really stop the hunger strike and take part in this process, but if they leave us alone in this space to "die", I will not back down from this either. The most wrong behavior in politics is to deceive oneself. The regime must be fought consistently and uncompromisingly, this gives results, while legitimization give bad results, strengthen the regime.
We need to be active, we need a campaign-like boycott, we need to demonstrate that this government has no legitimacy at the international and domestic levels. This must be a continuous process. We will see how long the government will be in the ostrich pose, in the end the ostrich's head will remain in the ground and the body will fall lifeless," Gedevan Popkhadze said.
According to Gedevan Popkhadze, if we are choosing delegitimization, we must follow this path to the end, because "what was the point of giving up a parliamentary mandate if you then start fighting for a Sakrebulo mandate? There is no logic in that."
"Boycott is a political position. They ask "what will happen after the boycott?" And what will happen after the elections? Suppose we elected a representative of Lelo as the mayor of Tbilisi and the cleaning service worked better, is this our task? But I know what the task of the boycott is, it is the non-recognition of the regime, its delegitimization. A delegitimized regime loses domestic sovereignty and, in addition to this, the loss of foreign sovereignty, and when such a situation exists, the regime will fall," said Gedevan Popkhadze.
