Nika Gvaramia, one of the leaders of the "Coalition for Change," was found guilty by the court for failing to comply with the demands of the Parliament’s Temporary Investigative Commission.
By the decision of Judge Jvebe Nachkebia, Nika Gvaramia was sentenced to 8 months of imprisonment and banned from holding office for 2 years.
The accused, Nika Gvaramia, did not attend the announcement of the verdict and did not exercise his right to deliver a final statement.
For reference, Nika Gvaramia was summoned to provide explanations to the Parliament’s Temporary Investigative Commission but did not appear. In connection with this, he was charged under Article 349 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to "failure to comply with the demands of the Parliament’s Temporary Investigative Commission." This offense is punishable by a fine or imprisonment for up to one year, along with a ban on holding office or engaging in certain activities for up to three years.
Nika Gvaramia was initially subjected to a preventive measure in the form of a 30,000 GEL bail, which he did not pay within the legally stipulated timeframe.
As a result, the bail imposed as a preventive measure was replaced with imprisonment.
