When you voted to terminate our mandates, it was your political decision - if you are asking me here that we should take care of your legitimacy, you are very wrong - let's put aside my moral assessments of why our deputies do not recognize the legitimacy of this parliament, - former Minister of Internal Affairs Giorgi Gakharia stated at the temporary investigative commission, thus answering the question of the commission's chairwoman, Tea Tsulukiani, regarding the mandates of Gakharia's party.
As Gakharia noted, the main factor in the legitimacy problem for the Georgian Dream is that today it is a one-party parliament.”
“How we treated our own voters will be decided by our voters when the next elections are held. This is one thing, and the second thing is that as for our two members who could be in this commission, they are not in this commission. The work of this commission is not very correct because you had declared one goal for the commission, and now the commission is working on a completely different issue. The goal with which you started this commission and for which you created it, you have thrown it away halfway, you have not even mentioned it. Today you are investigating things in general, the cancellation of mandates...
As for the parliamentary mandates, we have clearly said that in the procedural part, when the committee discussed it, we had no problem, but when you voted, this is already your political decision. The fact that you are a one-party parliament today is the main factor that you have a serious problem with legitimacy. This is your decision and no one else's. It is our decision to be in a political boycott," Gakharia said.
In addition, Gakharia expressed hope that the commission members would not turn off the microphone and added that in case of any technical disruption, he would wait for the connection to be restored.
In response, Tea Tsulukiani told him: “Don’t be afraid, calm down.”
