Officers of the Kakheti Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested eight individuals on charges of organizing group violence, participating in group violence, and intentional infliction of serious bodily harm, as a result of swift operative-search and investigative actions carried out in hot pursuit. The information was released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the Ministry, the following individuals have been arrested: Sh.M., born in 1983; G.O., born in 1985; Z.Gh., born in 1981; B.T., born in 1997; M.M., born in 1986; R.M., born in 1990; and two previously convicted individuals — V.S., born in 1988, and Sh.Sh., born in 1976.
The crimes are punishable by up to 9 years of imprisonment.
“The investigation established that the accused, acting in an organized group and as an act of revenge, physically assaulted G.G., born in 1970, in Sagarejo Municipality. During the same altercation, the defendants shot and wounded A.G., born in 1994, using a firearm, and fled the scene. The injured man was taken to the hospital, where he received appropriate medical assistance.
As a result of operative-search and investigative measures, law enforcement officers arrested the suspects in hot pursuit.
The investigation is being conducted under Articles 126¹, 225, and 117 of the Criminal Code of Georgia,” the statement reads.
