The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly has adopted its 2025 report, titled “The Porto Declaration and Resolutions”, which also includes references to Georgia. Although the final document has not yet been published on the official website, a draft version of the report is being circulated.
The document addresses Georgia from several angles, including the following statement: “According to the final report of the ODIHR election observation mission, the [October 26, 2024 parliamentary elections] were marked by several irregularities.”
Furthermore, the document stresses the need for the immediate release of all political prisoners and the holding of new, free, and fair elections that genuinely reflect the will of the Georgian people.
“We welcome the activation of the OSCE Vienna Mechanism following the mass protests in Georgia after the October 26, 2024 parliamentary elections, which, according to the final report of the ODIHR election observation mission, were marked by several irregularities. The report recognizes the importance of this mechanism in addressing concerns related to human rights, democratic processes, and the rule of law. We call for continued dialogue and cooperation to ensure the protection of fundamental freedoms—primarily through the immediate release of all political prisoners and the conduct of new, free, and fair elections that truly reflect the will of the Georgian people,” the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly's 2025 report states.
