It is a shameful lie, and I think that is why it is necessary to have a law on defamation, with which such lies, which in this case are aimed at misleading the entire nation, can be exposed. In this case, we are dealing with a very harmful lie, - the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, Maia Bitadze, said when responding to the information spread in the media, according to which the Georgian side supported the resolution adopted at the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.
According to Bitadze, the Georgian delegation was distinguished by its harsh statements precisely because it protested the changes initiated by American Congressman Joe Wilson in the draft resolution. Accordingly, according to her, the Georgian side did not support the entire resolution.
"Naturally, our delegation made tough statements both at the committee hearings and at the plenary session precisely because we were protesting the very changes to the draft resolution that were initiated by Joe Wilson and supported by certain delegations united in one club, which had a fairly high number of votes compared to other members. Naturally, we did not support these amendments, and because of these amendments, unfortunately, we did not support even the entire resolution, which in this case is very sad. This is a blatant lie, which, once again, aims to discredit the successful amendment to the text of the resolution itself, which was requested and submitted by our delegation. I mean the withdrawal of recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia by the new Syrian government," said Maia Bitadze.
