Saba Buadze, a member of Lelo – Strong Georgia, has resigned from the party’s Political Council and his position as head of the party’s Tbilisi organization; however, he remains a member of the party.
Buadze announced his decision on Facebook.
He explained that he disagrees with Lelo – Strong Georgia’s decision to participate in the local self-government elections.
"Over the past few weeks, many people have asked me about my position regarding the local elections. Now that the party’s position has officially been made public, I would like to briefly share my decision:
1. I consider it a very serious mistake and do not agree with participating in the local elections under the current circumstances. I believe that participating in these elections contradicts the path we all chose together after giving up our parliamentary mandates.
2. Taking all this into account, I find it unacceptable to be in any way involved in this misguided step — I have decided to resign from my position as head of Lelo’s Tbilisi organization. I am also stepping down from the Political Council and will continue as an ordinary member of the party until Mamuka and Badri are released. The regime has imprisoned them precisely because of their struggle.
3. The fight will continue — all the way to our unconditional victory!” wrote Buadze.
