According to available information, in connection with the case of Tornike Rijvadze, the Head of the Maritime Transport Agency, Aleksi Akhvlediani, has been detained as a suspect under Article 238 of the Criminal Code of Georgia for the negligent storage of a firearm.

As a reminder, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, former Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic, Tornike Rijvadze, was admitted to Sagarejo GeoHospitals with a gunshot wound to the chest.

The ministry reports that Tornike Rijvadze received emergency medical assistance. According to doctors, he has sustained lung damage and his condition remains critically stable.

“On July 7, Tornike Rijvadze was admitted to Sagarejo GeoHospitals with a gunshot wound to the chest.

An investigation has been launched under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which pertains to incitement to suicide. Intensive investigative actions are ongoing in connection with the case.

Tornike Rijvadze received emergency medical treatment. According to doctors, he has suffered lung damage and his health condition is critically stable.

Additionally, one person has been detained as a suspect under Article 238 of the Criminal Code of Georgia for the negligent storage of a firearm,” the statement reads.
