"Imedi" is releasing the content of Tornike Rizhvadze’s letter, which, according to their information, was likely written prior to his attempted suicide. They also report that “Qronika” obtained the letter exclusively.
According to their claims, Rizhvadze writes in the letter that he is being accused of “corruption and protecting drug dealers.”
“Aleko has nothing to do with it, I took it quietly. This man is an example of brotherhood. There is only one reason — I’m being accused of things (corruption and protecting drug dealers) that both I and my father fought against our entire lives. I’m tired — I have seen great victories and failures. I ask forgiveness from my family, from the Patriarch. Father, you will always be the number one man for me in dignity.
Data, grow into a decent man, take care of Elis. Mom, I love you. Forgive me, brothers — I’m not leaving you millions, but I love you. I have hope in Mr. Bidzina and the Prime Minister, that they will protect my family.
My friends, colleagues, family members — everyone acted on my orders and instructions. They are all innocent. I take full responsibility with my life. Please, don’t disown me and don’t blame anyone. I wrote this myself. May God protect my beloved Adjara and Georgia,” — reads the letter released by Imedi.
For reference, this morning, the Ministry of Internal Affairs released a statement that former Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, Tornike Rizhvadze, was admitted to GeoHospitals in Sagarejo with a gunshot wound to the chest. According to the ministry, Rizhvadze received emergency medical treatment. Doctors stated that he has lung damage and his condition is critically stable.
Later, Rizhvadze was transferred from Sagarejo to the First University Clinic in Tbilisi.
Reportedly, in connection with Tornike Rizhvadze’s case, Aleksi Akhvlediani has been detained as a suspect for negligent storage of a firearm.
