The Clinical Director of the First University Clinic on Tornike Rizhvadze: His condition is critical – He is on mechanical ventilation

According to Lali Turdzaladze, the Clinical Director of the First University Clinic, the former Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, Tornike Rizhvadze, is on mechanical ventilation and remains in critical condition.

As she told Interpressnews, the patient is receiving all necessary medical procedures.

"He is receiving everything he needs. His condition is critical. [Surgical intervention] was not required here. He is on mechanical ventilation," said Lali Turdzaladze.

For reference, earlier this morning, the Ministry of Internal Affairs released information that the former Chairman of the Government of Adjara, Tornike Rizhvadze, was admitted to GeoHospitals in Sagarejo with a gunshot wound to the chest. According to the ministry, Rizhvadze received emergency medical treatment. Doctors stated that he had sustained lung damage and that his condition remains critically stable. Later, Rizhvadze was transferred from Sagarejo to the First University Clinic in Tbilisi.

According to available information, in connection with Tornike Rizhvadze’s case, Aleksi Akhvlediani has been detained as a suspect for the negligent storage of a firearm.
