"I couldn’t speak with him; he is in an extremely severe stressful condition," said Lali Aptsiauri, the lawyer of Alexi Akhvelediani.
According to the lawyer, no charges have been filed against Akhvelediani yet, so she has not had access to the case materials.
"No charges have been filed against Mr. Alexi yet. Until charges are presented, I don’t have access to the case materials. I had a brief visit because it’s difficult to talk to this person now due to the intense stress he has experienced. I couldn’t speak with him; he is in a very grave condition. I couldn’t even ask him any questions; I simply inquired about his health condition and whether he needed anything at this stage, or if he required any assistance," said Lali Aptsiauri.
For reference, this morning, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that Tornike Rizhvadze, the former chairman of the Adjara government, was admitted to "Geohospitals" in Sagarejo with a gunshot wound to the chest area. According to the agency, Rizhvadze received emergency medical assistance. Doctors stated that his lung is damaged, and his health condition is stably critical.
Later, Rizhvadze was transferred from Sagarejo to the First University Clinic in Tbilisi.
In connection with Tornike Rizhvadze’s case, Alexi Akhvelediani has been detained as a suspect for negligent storage of a firearm.
