According to Tamar Chanturaia, the head of the legal service of the Emergency Situations Management Service under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of "violent acts carried out during protests" on Rustaveli Avenue from November 30 to December 3, the damage amounted to 62,785 GEL.
At the trial of eight individuals detained during the protests, in response to the prosecutor’s question about what specific property was damaged as a result of the violent acts, Chanturaia stated that property under the balance of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ service was damaged, specifically firefighters’ and rescuers’ uniforms and rescue equipment.
According to the witness’s testimony, the cost of the damaged uniforms amounts to 8,894 GEL, the cost of the vehicles amounts to 53,891 GEL, with the total damage amounting to 62,785 GEL.
Chanturaia explained that the damaged items were mostly burned and also sustained mechanical damage, such as being doused with various paints and other substances.
For reference, three of the detainees—Zviad Tsetskhladze, Vepkhia Kasradze, and Vasil Kadzelashvili—are charged with organizing and leading group violence. They face imprisonment ranging from 6 to 9 years.
Five of the accused—Giorgi Gorgadze, Irakli Miminoshvili, Insaf Aliev, Tornike Goshadze, and Nikoloz Javakhishvili—are charged with participating in group violence. They face imprisonment ranging from 4 to 6 years.
