The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia has charged nine individuals in connection with the degrading and inhumane treatment of a minor.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, members of a group with a so-called "fascist" ideology, based on a prior verbal dispute, lured the minor to an abandoned building in Tbilisi under a prearranged plan, verbally insulted the victim, and, under threats of using knives and pistols, forced the minor to kneel. While kneeling, the victim was injured in various parts of the body with a cold weapon and subjected to physical and verbal abuse.
"The victim was forced, under threats of using pistols and knives, to perform degrading acts, and while kneeling, was recorded on a mobile phone video apologizing to the so-called leader of the group. The accused recorded a video capturing the degrading acts against the victim and uploaded it to social media. As a result of these actions, the victim suffered severe physical and psychological pain, as well as moral suffering.
Law enforcement officers detained the so-called leader of the group and eight other individuals involved in the crime. They were charged under Subparagraphs 'e' and 'z' of Part 2 of Article 144-tertia of the Criminal Code of Georgia (humiliation of a person, placing them in an inhumane and degrading condition causing severe physical, psychological pain, and moral suffering, committed by a group and with prior knowledge against a minor), which carries a penalty of up to 10 years of imprisonment.
Based on the Prosecutor's Office's motion, the Tbilisi City Court has already imposed detention as a preventive measure for all nine accused individuals," the statement reads.
