"I am pleased that, apart from a few members of the European Parliament who are always pro-Russian, every other group that spoke today stands on the side of a European Georgia. Thank you for that," said European Parliament member Rasa Juknevičienė in her concluding remarks at the European Parliament.

The MEP expressed hope that tomorrow the report related to Georgia will be adopted with an absolute majority.

"Commissioner [Marta Kos], I know you also stand with the Georgian people. I hope the European Council will soon adopt the necessary position, and member states will act, first and foremost, regarding sanctions against the regime.

I call on the Danish Presidency [of the EU Council] to take the initiative to unite countries, at least those willing, to exert pressure on the regime for new, free, and fair elections. This is the only way to help Georgia," Juknevičienė stated, adding: "Thank you all. I hope tomorrow we will adopt this report with an absolute majority."

Today, the European Parliament held debates on the situation in Georgia, and tomorrow a vote will be held on the report concerning Georgia.
