No parliamentary committee has summoned or heard any state political official in committee format.
This information was presented by the Procedural Issues Committee, according to which, from April 1 to June 30, no committee made a decision to summon an official to a committee session. Additionally, no parliamentary faction requested the mandatory attendance of a state official at a committee session, and no officials themselves submitted a request to appear and be heard by any committee.
"Neither the committees have addressed officials, nor have the officials addressed the committees — this is the situation we are dealing with," said the Chairman of the Procedural Issues Committee, Davit Matikashvili, at today's session.
It is worth noting that the committee presented a similar conclusion in previous months as well.
This concerns the mechanism defined by the Parliament’s Rules of Procedure, according to which state officials accountable to Parliament are authorized — and, upon request, obliged — to attend committee sessions and respond to questions raised. Likewise, political officials must be heard by the committee immediately upon their request.
