The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, met with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.
According to information released by the Ministry of Economy, during the official visit to Azerbaijan, the parties reaffirmed the friendly and strategic partnership relations between the two countries.
“Mariam Kvrivishvili expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani side for supporting Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders. The parties discussed the importance of cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan in various directions to ensure stability and development in the South Caucasus region, with a particular focus on bilateral and regional economic projects. Special emphasis was placed on strengthening trade and economic relations between the two countries.
It was noted during the meeting that cooperation in strategic projects between Georgia and Azerbaijan positively impacts economic indicators, including attracting additional investments in sectors such as green energy, transportation and logistics, information technology, telecommunications, and others.
Particular emphasis was placed on strategic projects such as the energy cable, which will contribute to deepening cooperation in the energy sector. Attention was also drawn to the significance of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project. It was noted that the project, which is in its final phase, will significantly enhance the transit potential of both Georgia and Azerbaijan.
The parties agreed to continue working and take effective steps toward implementing new strategic projects that will promote the development of strategic infrastructure in Georgia and Azerbaijan and increase connectivity between the two countries.
The meeting also highlighted cooperation in the tourism sector. It was noted that Azerbaijan is a strategic tourism market for Georgia. The meeting also addressed security challenges in the world and the region, emphasizing the importance of peace and stability in overcoming them. The meeting was also attended by Georgia’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Zurab Pataradze,” the statement reads.
