According to the Prosecutor’s Office, in line with the decision of the Strasbourg Court, investigative actions are being carried out on Rustaveli Avenue in connection with the events of June 20–21, 2019 - These actions will "enable the investigation to fully reconstruct the picture of the crime"

According to the Georgian Prosecutor’s Office, the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) found a violation of Article 3 of the Convention in the procedural aspect regarding the events of June 20-21, 2019, and ordered the state to conduct certain investigative actions.

In connection with this, the agency issued a statement explaining that, in accordance with the Strasbourg Court’s decision and recommendations, investigative actions are being carried out on Rustaveli Avenue.

“The European Court of Human Rights issued a decision regarding a criminal case under the jurisdiction of the Investigative Department of the Tbilisi Prosecutor’s Office concerning the events of June 20-21, 2019, in Tbilisi, involving the use of excessive force and weapons by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in maintaining and restoring public order. The court found a violation of Article 3 of the Convention in its procedural aspect and ordered the state to conduct certain investigative actions, including those involving victims, to ensure proper planning of the measures by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and to establish instances of excessive use of force.

Taking into account the Strasbourg Court’s decision and recommendations, investigative actions involving victims are currently being conducted on Rustaveli Avenue to ensure an effective investigation. These actions will enable the investigation to fully reconstruct the crime scene and identify individuals potentially responsible for the crime,” the statement from the Georgian Prosecutor’s Office reads.
