MIA on reports about abduction of a Chechen woman: No crime has been confirmed on the territory of Georgia - she will be transferred to a shelter for victims

The Ministry of Internal Affairs denies media reports that a Chechen woman staying in Georgia, Laura Avtorkhanova, had been abducted or that there was an attempt to abduct her.

As InterpressNews was told by the press service of the agency, communication took place between Laura Avtorkhanova and law enforcement officers, and according to the information received from her, there was no threat or any other crime committed against her.

As explained by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Laura Avtorkhanova will be transferred to a shelter for victims.

"The information spread on social networks that a foreign citizen L.A., who is in Georgia, was kidnapped or was attempted to be kidnapped, is not true. At this stage, no crime has been confirmed on the territory of Georgia. The police are conducting legal proceedings, and a legal response has been immediately initiated in connection with the information disseminated. Communication took place between L.A. and law enforcement officers, and according to the information received from her, there was no threat or any other crime committed against her. L.A. will be transferred to a shelter for victims," the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

According to information spread on Telegram channels, Laura Avtorkhanova fled from Chechnya to Georgia due to violence. According to media reports, Laura's relatives were trying to find her and threatening her friends. Later, information spread that Laura Avtorkhanova was kidnapped by Chechens in Georgia and allegedly taken to Russia.
