We must exclude competition between each other in these elections, so we will try to reach an agreement on a non-partisan neutral candidate for mayor, as well as on candidates for majoritarian deputies, or on joint party candidates, - Berdia Sichinava, Executive Secretary of the Gakharia for Georgia party, stated after signing a memorandum with Lelo - Strong Georgia.
According to him, this does not mean that they are normalizing any process in any way, on the contrary, this is an additional battle line to expand the protest and give it a new impetus.
“We have a serious political crisis in the country, in fact, all state institutions are seized. The ruling party has departed from the constitutional framework of state governance, and in these conditions, pragmatic cooperation and mutual coordination acquire special importance. For this very purpose, our political union and coalition Strong Georgia declare the initial principles of agreement, memorandum, cooperation, which implies a common struggle, coordination in the local self-government elections, because these are not standard elections, therefore, we must exclude competition between each other in these elections, therefore we will try to reach an agreement on a non-partisan neutral candidate for mayor.
I think that we have shown a good example of pragmatic cooperation to the rest of the opposition political spectrum, and therefore, based on the principles reflected in the memorandum, we are of course ready for this cooperation with any political party, public movement, student movement, individual individuals, or heroic people involved in the protest,” Sichinava said.
The Gakharia for Georgia party and Lelo-Strong Georgia party have agreed to cooperate on the local elections.
The memorandum on cooperation between the parties was signed today by Berdia Sichinava, Executive Secretary of Gakharia for Georgia, and Irakli Kupradze, Secretary General of Lelo-Strong Georgia.
