Unfortunately, an accident occurred, as a result of which one person died, and one was injured, who is receiving appropriate treatment in the clinic, - Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said.

According to him, the collapsed building had been assigned the fifth category of dilapidation and was not subject to rehabilitation. In addition, according to the Tbilisi Mayor, an offer was made to the population to dismantle the building and build a new one under the replacement program, however, 100% consent of the population could not be achieved.

“As for the building itself, it was damaged, it was classified as a fifth category of dilapidation, which was not subject to rehabilitation. The local population knew about this, a meeting was held at the Didube district administration. An offer was made to participate in the replacement program, through which we would ensure the dismantling of the building in question and the construction of a new building. You know that the implementation of such a program requires 100% consent of the population, which unfortunately could not be achieved. Several families who agreed have been evicted with rent, although the rest refused,” Kaladze said.

A collapse occurred in one of the residential buildings located in the vicinity of the “Station Square” in Tbilisi. According to current data, one person died and one person was injured as a result of the incident.
