The "United National Movement" has filed a complaint with the Prosecutor's Office regarding the collapse of a residential building near Station Square – they are demanding an investigation into Kakha Kaladze and Tbilisi City Hall for "criminal negligence"

Representatives of the “United National Movement” have submitted a complaint to the General Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia regarding the collapse of a residential building near Station Square in Tbilisi.

As Lasha Pharulava, a member of the political council of the “United National Movement,” told journalists outside the Prosecutor’s Office, the complaint they submitted calls for an investigation into “the criminal negligence” of Kakha Kaladze and senior officials of Tbilisi City Hall.

According to Pharulava, they do not expect the Georgian Prosecutor’s Office to actually launch an investigation.

“First of all, we express our condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the collapse of the residential building near Station Square. What we witnessed yesterday is not just a tragedy — it is manslaughter. This entire situation was preceded by criminal inaction on the part of Tbilisi City Hall and Kakha Kaladze. They themselves admitted that they were aware of the existence of a hazardous building in a crowded public area, yet no one warned the residents, no one cordoned off the building with safety tape, no one did anything. This is the result of corrupt governance. This is not just negligence; it is a systemic, institutional indifference that cost human lives.

We are demanding the launch of an investigation into the criminal negligence of Kakha Kaladze and senior officials of Tbilisi City Hall, as this is clearly not just inaction but gross indifference and recklessness that led to the loss of human life,” Pharulava stated.

For reference, on the evening of July 14, part of the roof of a residential building near Station Square collapsed, resulting in the deaths of two people and the hospitalization of one person.

Shortly after the incident, evacuation of the building’s residents began, and they were relocated to alternative housing.
