Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia: 55 individuals have been added to Latvia’s list of undesirable persons – we deeply regret what is happening in Georgia from a political standpoint

Fifty-five individuals have been added to the list of undesirable persons for the Republic of Latvia. We deeply regret what is happening in Georgia from a political standpoint, – stated Artyoms Uršuļskis, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, in Brussels in response to a question from Euroscope editor Tamar Nutsubidze ahead of the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting.

According to him, greater unity and strength among European partners is needed in order to make progress regarding Georgia.

“There are issues related to freedom of speech, and there are political opponents who are either in prison or have been forced to leave the country. We will try to gain as much support as possible from our European partners, because only a united and strong joint position is effective. We’ve had some communication with others, and we have a group of like-minded countries that is large enough. We hope that more partners will speak out loudly on this issue. We are speaking out loudly, but we need more strength if we want to make progress with our long-standing partner, Georgia,” said the Latvian Foreign Ministry’s Parliamentary Secretary.
