Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs: There is widespread concern among member states regarding the developments in Georgia and the approach of the Georgian government

I see that there is widespread concern among member states regarding the developments in Georgia, — this was stated by the Netherlands Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kaspar Veldkamp, in response to a question from Tamara Nutsubidze, editor of Euroscope, ahead of the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Brussels.

“First of all, we will discuss Georgia together with the 27 member states at the meeting. I see that there is widespread concern about the approach of the Georgian government. This clearly contradicts what we expect from an EU candidate country. I am thinking about the people of Georgia. I see that many of them aspire to a European horizon, many of them value the visa-free regime. Today, we will consider what can be done, but I see that there is widespread concern regarding the developments in Georgia because this contradicts the status of an EU candidate country,” said Kaspar Veldkamp.
