According to Davit Jandieri, the lawyer of Giorgi Bachiashvili, the former head of the Co-Investment Fund, Bachiashvili's condition is stable and showing positive dynamics, although he still uses a wheelchair because he has coordination problems.
In addition, Jandieri told Interpressnews that they will appeal to the Penitentiary Service today to conduct all necessary tests on Giorgi Bachiashvili, and if doctors request additional medical services, to provide them immediately.
“Giorgi’s condition is stable, has positive dynamics, although he moves around in a wheelchair, as he has coordination problems. His health is improving. We expect that his health will improve significantly in a few days. He remains under the supervision of a doctor.
Today we will appeal to the Penitentiary Service and demand that all examinations be conducted that will be necessary to assess his condition, as well as, if there are any recommendations from doctors for other additional medical services, to provide them to him. Also, today we will appeal to the Penitentiary Service to return him to Rustavi Prison #12 after he recovers. Although his safety and health are at risk in any institution, this risk is especially high in the same institution where the incident took place. This incident can be assessed as torture and inhuman treatment. It is important to minimize the risks, and this is the reason for this request.
We also will demand that he be alone in the cell. It is clear that being alone creates other types of problems for the prisoner, however, considering the risks and what happened, it is better for him to be alone under constant video surveillance,” Jandieri noted.
