Minister of Internal Affairs Gela Geladze visited the police officers wounded and injured in the attack in Gori, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports.
According to the ministry, the minister received detailed information from doctors about the health condition of the injured law enforcement officers.
“Gela Geladze spoke to the police officers hospitalized in the clinic and wished them a speedy recovery.
Along with the minister, the injured law enforcement officers were visited by the First Deputy Chief of Police Roland Meskhi and the Director of the Shida Kartli Police Department, Kakhaber Muradashvili,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
According to the ministry, on July 16 of this year, in the village of Kheltubani, Gori Municipality, several citizens attacked the employees of the Shida Kartli Police Department while they were performing their official duties. As a result of the incident, three police officers were injured with cold weapons, and one has injuries of varying severity to the face.
Officers of the Shida Kartli Police Department have arrested 5 people as suspects in connection with the incident. The investigation is underway under Part 2 of Article 353 of the Criminal Code.
