According to Nona Kurdovanidze, Chairperson of the Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association (GYLA), it is essential that detained activist Nino Datashvili immediately undergo all necessary medical examinations and have timely access to a doctor of the relevant specialization. Nona Kurdovanidze wrote about this on Facebook.
“I met with Nino Datashvili today. She is in good spirits, but considering her health condition, it is essential that she immediately undergo all necessary medical examinations and have timely access to a doctor of the relevant specialization.
GYLA is monitoring the court proceedings related to Nino’s case. The use of detention as a preventive measure against her is completely unjustified and has been applied to punish an activist woman,” Nona Kurdovanidze wrote.
As a reminder, Nino Datashvili was detained on June 20 due to an incident that occurred at the Tbilisi City Court on June 9. She was charged under Article 353, Part 3 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which pertains to an attack on a public official during the performance of their duties. This offense carries a penalty of a fine or imprisonment ranging from 4 to 7 years.
