The “United National Movement” has applied to the Central Election Commission with a request to retain its electoral number. This information was confirmed to “InterpressNews” by the party.

Additionally, the party “Coalition for Change” has also submitted an application to the Central Election Commission to retain its electoral number.

In a statement released by the “Coalition for Change,” it is noted that the party has made this procedural application because retaining the electoral number is related to the party’s effective operations and not to participation in the so-called elections.

“For these reasons, the ‘Coalition for Change’ is making this procedural application, as retaining the electoral number is related to the party’s effective operations (and not to participation in the so-called elections), including under the conditions of the current authoritarian regime.

In accordance with amendments made to the Electoral Code in 2021, a political party is required to apply to the election administration no later than July 17 of the election year to retain its electoral number. Otherwise, due to vague interpretations in the law, a political party may lose its electoral number.

According to the Electoral Code, this is not an electoral registration; it is an application related to retaining the electoral number for the future. We emphasize that these formal procedures are in no way connected to participation in the so-called local elections, which are, in reality, rigged, criminal, and Russian processes.

For these reasons, the ‘Coalition for Change’ is making this procedural application, as retaining the electoral number is related to the party’s effective operations (and not to participation in the so-called elections), including under the conditions of the current authoritarian regime.

The coalition’s position has been clear and consistent from the first day. We remain committed to the principles on which an unprecedented resistance movement in Georgia’s history was founded, which involves non-cooperation with the regime and its isolation at all levels.

We remain consistent in our positions, and after refusing to enter the so-called parliament, withdrawing lists, rejecting funding, and not appearing before the so-called commission, we also reject the so-called local elections, which the regime uses to legitimize the status quo. We recognize only new, free, and fair parliamentary elections. We are providing this clarification to avoid future speculation. For this reason, we await you on July 19 at 19:00 at TSU!” the statement reads.
