The ideal scenario for the Georgian Dream was to hold municipal elections comfortably on October 4 without any opposition. That is why we will not allow them to do this! - Badri Japaridze, one of the leaders of the Lelo-Strong Georgia movement, writes in a letter sent from prison, which has been posted on his Facebook page.
As he notes, it would be ideal for the Georgian Dream if no national, pro-Western political group participated in the elections.
"When it is said that the united entry of opposition parties into the battlefield in the municipal elections has failed, this is often followed by a comment that the participation of the opposition in these elections is probably the ideal scenario for the Georgian Dream. In fact, it would be ideal for the Georgian Dream if no national, pro-Western political group entered this battlefield, which would allow it to completely concentrate power at the municipal level and marginalize key political actors, since their goal is to destroy political opponents.
We made this decision precisely to enter the fight and prevent the Georgian Dream from achieving the above-mentioned goals.
I will repeat once again - the ideal scenario for the Georgian Dream was to comfortably hold municipal elections on October 4 without any opposition. That is why we will not allow them to do so!
"In order to prevent the Strong Georgia and Gakharia party from making the decision we made, that is exactly why we, the leaders of Strong Georgia, are in prison and that is why a case is being initiated against Giorgi Gakharia," Badri Japaridze writes.
